Orihuela

Orihuela is the capital of the Vega Baja region, nestled between mountains in the southern extreme of the province, close to the border with Murcia.

The city is well known for its rich cultural heritage. Its old town has been declared a national monument and the local festivities, the most famous being the Easter Holy Week, have been declared of international touristic interest. The illustrious poet Miguel Hernández was born and lived here.
